Hadith Arba'in Nawawiyah is a collection of 40 hadiths of the Prophet peace be upon him collected by Imam Nawawi ra. and is a book that is not foreign to us Muslims, not only in Indonesia but all over the world. Muslims know it and are familiar with it, because it is widely discussed by scholars and becomes a reference in spreading Islamic teachings to Muslims related to religious life, worship, muamalah and sharia.
Perhaps Imam Nawawi in collecting these hadiths was inspired by the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, narrated by Imam Ali, Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Mu'adz bin Jabal, Abi Darda, Ibn Umar, Ibnu Abbas, Anas bin Malik, Abu Hurairah, Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri - may God be pleased with them all - from various methods of narration - that the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, said, "Whoever memorizes from my people 40 hadiths - which contain in them - about matters his religion, then God will resurrect him on the Day of Resurrection with the group of jurists and scholars". In another narration it is mentioned, "Allah will raise him up as a jurist and scholar". And in the narration of Abu Darda, "I will be an intercessor and a witness on the Day of Resurrection". And in the narration of Ibn Mas'ud, "It was said to him: Enter whichever door you like". And in Ibn Umar's narration, "It will be written with the group of scholars and resurrected with the martyrs".
